Richards Layton’s Doneene Damon and Anne Foster Elected to ALI

WILMINGTON, Delaware (October 25, 2016) – Richards, Layton & Finger directors Doneene Damon and Anne Foster have been selected as members of the American Law Institute (ALI).  Three times a year ALI elects new members to join its distinguished group of judges, lawyers, and law professors from the U.S. and around the world, chosen on the basis of professional achievement and demonstrated excellence in the law.  Ms. Damon and Ms. Foster are two of only three Delaware professionals chosen for this distinct honor in ALI’s October election; in June of this year, Richards Layton director Blake Rohrbacher was also elected to ALI.

Doneene Damon is the executive vice president of Richards Layton.  She focuses her varied corporate trust practice primarily on formation and operational issues relating to Delaware statutory and common law trusts in all types of commercial and business transactions.  She also represents banks and trust companies in connection with their trust and agency services under Delaware and New York law in various commercial transactions.

Ms. Damon is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.  She holds numerous leadership positions in many organizations, including in several committees of the American Bar Association and as chair of the board of directors of the Christiana Care Health System, Inc., one of Delaware’s largest employers.  Recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA, Ms. Damon was recently chosen for the National Association of Professional Women’s VIP Woman of the Year Circle and the American Bar Association’s prestigious Jean Allard Glass Cutter Award.

Anne Foster has 30 years of experience representing clients in corporate and commercial litigation matters, representing corporations, members of boards of directors, and substantial stockholders in litigation concerning mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and fiduciary duties.  She also counsels clients in special committee matters, indemnification and advancement issues, and other aspects of Delaware corporate law.  Ms. Foster serves as Richards Layton’s general counsel and is also a certified mediator with the Delaware Superior Court.

A frequent speaker on issues relating to corporate litigation and ethics, Ms. Foster has co-taught classes at Columbia Law School and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  Her leadership in the legal community includes serving on the Delaware Supreme Court Rules Committee, as past chair of the Delaware Supreme Court’s Board on Professional Responsibility, and on the Advisory Board of the Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware.  Ms. Foster has been listed in Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Lawdragon.
