Richards, Layton & Finger Promotes New Directors and Counsel

WILMINGTON, Delaware (July 1, 2016) – Richards, Layton & Finger is pleased to announce that it has elected Kenneth Jackman and Wes Peterson as directors of the firm, and has appointed Zachary Shapiro as counsel of the firm.

Kenneth Jackman counsels clients on complex matters involving Delaware limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and general partnerships. In particular, Ken has extensive experience advising clients in matters relating to publicly traded master limited partnerships. His practice includes advising boards of directors and board committees on a wide variety of matters, including governance, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, and sales or purchases of assets. Ken also advises directors and managers of limited partnerships and limited liability companies regarding their fiduciary duties. He graduated with a B.S., cum laude, from Washington and Lee University and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Temple University School of Law.

Wes Peterson focuses his practice on the use of trusts in investment management and structured finance transactions. In the area of investment management, Wes works extensively with open- and closed-end investment companies, exchange traded funds, and private investment funds. In the structured finance arena, Wes has experience in a wide variety of international and domestic securitization transactions and other structured finance transactions. He also represents banks and trust companies acting as owner, indenture and liquidating trustees, paying agents, securities administrators, and collateral agents. Wes received a B.A., with distinction, from the University of Delaware and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Boston University School of Law.

Zachary Shapiro represents debtors, creditors, lenders, landlords, committees, directors, purchasers, and other parties in bankruptcy cases under chapters 7, 11, and 15; insurance company liquidation and rehabilitation matters under Delaware’s Insurance Code; and out-of-court restructurings. He also provides advice and legal opinions under Delaware and federal bankruptcy law on a wide range of transactions. Zach earned a B.A. from Colorado College and a J.D., cum laude, from Temple University School of Law.
