WILMINGTON, Delaware (May 24, 2013) – Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business has recognized 33 Richards, Layton & Finger attorneys for excellence in seven areas of law, far more lawyers than from any other Delaware firm. In addition, the firm received Chambers’ highest ranking in Delaware in the areas of Bankruptcy/Restructuring, Chancery, Corporate/M&A & Alternative Entities, and Real Estate. In its commentary, Chambers reports that Richards Layton was praised as “the premier firm for corporate transactions in America. Its reputation in the whole country is unparalleled.”

With eight firm directors listed in Band 1, Richards Layton has more lawyers ranked in Chambers’ highest band than any other Delaware firm. Mark Collins, ranked in Bankruptcy/Restructuring, is one of only four lawyers in Delaware designated as a “Star Individual,” a distinction given to lawyers who received exceptional commendations.

“Our firm has a long tradition of providing clients with outstanding service and excellent results,” said William Wade, president of Richards Layton. “We are proud to see the continued recognition of our prominence in Delaware’s legal landscape.”

In addition to Collins, the attorneys named in the bankruptcy category are Daniel DeFranceschi, Paul Heath, John Knight, Russell Silberglied and Robert Stearn Jr. Ranked on Chambers’ Chancery list are Catherine Dearlove, Raymond DiCamillo, Anne Foster, Gregory Varallo and Gregory Williams. Stephen Bigler, Donald Bussard, Mark Gentile and William Haubert are named in the Corporate/M&A category. On the Corporate/Alternative Entities list are Paul Altman, Doneene Damon, Bernard Kelley, Gregory Ladner, James Leyden Jr., Eric Mazie, Mark Purpura and Srinivas Raju. Frederick Cottrell III and Jeffrey Moyer are ranked in Chambers’ Intellectual Property category. Jennifer Jauffret is named in Labor & Employment, and Daniel Klein and Robert Krapf are listed in Real Estate. In addition, Michael Merchant, Blake Rohrbacher and John Mark Zeberkiewicz are named “Up and Coming” attorneys, and Lori Brewington and Sara Toner are recognized as “Associates to Watch.”

To compile the Chambers rankings, independent researchers carried out thousands of in-depth interviews with clients and lawyers to assess business lawyers across the country. The lawyers are ranked according to technical ability, professional conduct, client service, business acumen, diligence and other valued qualities.
