WILMINGTON, Delaware – Richards, Layton & Finger director Eric A. Schwartzman has been elected chair of the Commercial Law Section of the Delaware State Bar Association. The Commercial Law Section promotes the professional development of its more than 150 members and provides a common meeting ground for attorneys who work in the area of commercial law. Schwartzman, whose one-year term begins on July 1, practices in the General Transactions Group in Richards Layton’s Business Department.

Providing legal opinions regarding securitizations and structured finance transactions, Schwartzman has particular expertise in Articles 8 and 9 of Delaware’s Uniform Commercial Code. He also renders advice and legal opinions in connection with investment fund and joint venture transactions, as well as the formation and utilization of Delaware alternative entities such as limited liability companies and limited partnerships. Schwartzman is a member of the Commercial Law Section’s UCC subcommittee, the DSBA technology committee, and the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association. He is a graduate of Villanova University and the Georgetown University Law Center.
